I am 2 minutes from the CMP north air rifle range at Camp Perry, Ohio. On the 200 yard simulated target, using an inexpensive green dot sight, I have shot a 572 score out of 60 rounds. I have run strings of ten 10.5 to 10.9* hits. I have MS and a slight body shake, and I feel this gun could easily push a 580+ score in more stable hands. Seems to shoot best on the Crosman 7.4 grain premiere wad cutters. Will be trying the Crosman Super Match wad cutters next. This is simply one of the best values for the money. Just order it! Things I would have changed:Include more than one pellet clip. Leave the rail off the bottom of the pump handle, a smooth hand grip would be more desirable. These are all minor comments.
In the published images of the M4-177 combo kit, a carry handle is shown, however one does not appear available from Crosman. The images should be corrected in the ads.
What others should know:If you buy this gun, order 2 to 4 additional four packs of pellet clips. I have enough to preload 175 pellets before going to the range. Purchase the UTG AR carry handle, all metal construction, great rear sight, makes handling the gun easier. The UTG soft sided case fits this gun well also (short version). I added a UTG rail on top of the hand guard, and mounted a green dot sight. To me this gun shoots to good to risk messing up the rifling in the barrel shooting BB's. I have shot match grade vogle pellets in this gun, and the Crosman premiere wad cutters yielded better scores. Possibly weight or head diameter was different and the gun did not like the vogle pellets.
Thanks Edith, good to know one is included in the Kit version. That is not fully explained anywhere I can find. As I mentioned in my review, I did purchase the UTG all metal carry handle and it works great. Also, as an update, I ordered three additional types of pellets for some testing.I went to the CMP range with the Crosman M4-177 and four types of pellets to try out. Up to this point, I have been shooting the Crosman 7.4 grain Competition Wadcutter. I have on multiple occasions shot a 572 out of 600. This was on the CMP 10 meter range simulated 200 yard target.I brought along the Beeman coated Wadcutter, RWS basic 7 grain Wadcutter, and the Crosman Premiere Super Match 7.9 grain Wadcutter.I started off running about 25 rounds of the Crossman competition wadcutters through the rifle to warm things up a bit. I then proceeded to test 30 rounds of each type, running 10 practice rounds of each through first. Here are the results (not quite what I thought they would be)Crosman Competition Wadcutter - 289/300Crosman Premiere Super Match Wadcutter - 285/300Beeman coated Wadcutter - 272/300RWS Basic Wadcutter - 255/300All shots were using the same four pumps from the sitting position with a table top support.Obviously the RWS Basics are either too light, or the gun just does not like them. I had a noticeable increase in flyers. The Beeman coated deserve a second look and some additional testing. There was a computer glitch that may have thrown the score off a few points.so, I went back to the range with the Beeman coated wadcutters, Crosman Completion wadcutters, and Crosman Super Match Premier wadcutters for another test. 60 rounds fired for each. Same conditions as the original testing. Results;Beeman - 527/600Crosman Completion - 572/600 (very consistent)Crosman Super match - 575/600So the two Crosman pellets are very close, if you are not striving for the best possible score, then the Crosman Completion Wadcutter is the best value. If striving for maximum scoring/accuracy, use the Crosman Super Match. Obviously, this Crosman gun likes the Crosman ammo the best, so it only makes sense to me to use them in this gun.I have to say for an $80 rifle, it can put up some impressive numbers, and it really seems to like the Crosman ammo the best. If you have an M4-177 and you have not tried the Crosman 7.4 grain Competition Wadcutter (it is the cheaper one to boot), you should give them a try. So far I have put about 3000 rounds through this gun and its consistency is very stable. Probably one of the best values out there! Now, if I can figure out how to convert one over to a precharged pneumatic configuration

MrMopar--A separate carry handle isn't available from Crosman, but that doesn't mean the M4-177 rifle kits don't come with them. They do. So, if you want a carry handle for your non-kit gun, you'll either have to buy an aftermarket part from another mfr or purchase one of the kits.

Things I liked:I liked the feel of it, feels awesome in your hands. Things I would have changed:Feels sturdy but kind of cheap. The pumping lever is a little too long. The below Rails are useless. What others should know:Fun gun for the backyard, and surprisingly accurate.

What others should know:Over all the M4-177 is a great Crosman product. Fun plinker, looks really great and at a good price. So many accessories like the UTG Low Profile Front Sight Red Laser (LS754) and the BSA RD30 Red Dot Scope look and work very well on the M4-177 and are available from Pyramyd Air.

Things I liked:Its function for a plastic rifle is very reasonable. Since installing a Crosman dot scope I'm hitting accurately at 40 yards or more. The power and accuracy is good for the price paid. Things I would have changed:Because it is a plastic rifle, I am hoping it will hold together for long use with proper care and maintenance

What others should know:Because it is a rifled barrel there is far better accuracy when using pellets only. Steel BBs can ruin the barrel.
James--You said "Steel BBs can ruin the barrel." This was true years ago, but it's believed that this is no longer the case. You should be able to shoot steel BBs through this barrel and not destroy it.

It's in the round barrel shroud, so you don't see it. Aesthetically this gun is pleasing. It has sufficient power for the price, There are a few cons that I'll mention below. Things I would have changed:Clip size is the one thing I was dissappointed about. it's a 5 shot clip. While some people are ok with this, I like to fill and shoot not worrying about reloading as much. The part that looks like a clip is a storage box. I would have liked this if they had made it either load from the clip using a bb feed system similar to an AEG and single shot load for pellets. For this I gave it 3 stars. What others should know:If you're fine with reloading often this is a very good pellet/bb rifle. You will enjoy it and get many hours of fun. Buy plenty of clips, otherwise. If you use a tac light on the bottom of the barrel mount it closer to the front, the pump handle swings towards the front of the barrel so you will be less inclined to bump your mounted light that way.

I love multipump rifles for their varying power, and my 30 year old multipump died so I was in the market for another. This just so happened to come out at the same time and I couldn't resist trying it. I was immediately surprised at how well it shot. The sights were close to zero, but it grouped very well. Once dialed in, it has kept zero well and it is a joy to shoot. I haven't shot BB's through it, but it shoots pellets just fine. Looks like an M4, but doesn't feel like one. It feels like a plastic toy, but not necessarily cheap. The plastic is nice, but it's all plastic. Pales in comparison to the airsoft replica types, but then again - this is under $80. It feels pretty good, looks good and shoots better than expected. Things I would have changed:I'd love a version that felt more like a real M4. As much as I like multipumps, it would be nice to have a CO2 version, I don't care about semi auto or the like, but a CO2 version would be nice for a quick plinking session. I suspect this is aimed at the youth market, because it has a very short pull even with the stock fully extended. I'd like a wider adjustment capability. What others should know:Fun, it's very fun. I know it's essentially a 760 (with rifled barrel) but it is a whole lot funner to shoot.
